Mack named Legislator of the Year

Jekyll Island, GA. - Rep. David J. Mack III (D-Charleston County) was named "Legislator of the Year" by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) - Southeast Region during the organization's annual leadership conference held January 12-13 in Jekyll Island, Ga.

The award was presented by Thurston S. Smith, southeastern regional vice president for NAADAC; Bill Burnett, president of NAADAC (and former treatment director for DAODAS); and Leslie Hipp, president of the South Carolina Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors.

Mack has long been a vocal advocate and community leader in the fight against substance abuse in South Carolina and served on the Charleston County Substance Abuse Commission from 1980 to 1984.
