R. Kelly and the Image Awards

When I first heard that R. Kelly was nominated for a NAACP Image Award, I thought it was a joke.  Sorta like Mike Tyson being a judge at the Miss America Pageant or George Bush winning the Nobel Peace Prize.  The extreme irony makes such thoughts humorous to say the least...more

Pimp Juice and Ghettopoly

There are some that are calling for the boycotting of the products "Pimp Juice" and "Ghettopoly" on the basis that they are promoting negative stereotypes of the Black Community. But the parts of Washington that worry less about a terrorist attack than we do about some crack-head trying to rob us or getting shot by a stray bullet meant for a rival dealer or to settle a "beef" between neighborhood gangs or crews. Every day I see aimless men and women gather on the corner or in the alley. Their eyes are devoid of any sense of pride or self respect....more
